How to link TNEB Account with Aadhaar Card?

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) launched its “TNEB Account to Aadhaar Card Linking” facility in November. According to the new rules, customers can avail subsidies only if they linked their Aadhaar card number along with their Tamil Nadu Electricity Board connection details. As per the latest update, the time frame for linking Aadhaar cards with TNEB accounts was extended till December 31.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has made it compulsory for people to link their Aadhaar cards with their electricity bills to continue receiving subsidies from them.

The subsidy for the first 100 units consumed by an individual must be linked to their Aadhaar number, according to Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) officials. Individuals who don’t link their Aadhaar card will still get the subsidy, but it won’t be transferred to them until they link their Aadhaar card with their TNEB account.

Government has taken this move to ensure that no one misuses the scheme and funds meant for the poor. However, TANGEDCO officials said that the exercise was only to generate proper data according to the guidelines set by the Central Government and added that subsidies would be cut for those people who did not link their Aadhaar card.

By the way, It’s really simple to link your Aadhaar card with your electricity bill. You just need to follow these steps:

Steps to link EB Account with Aadhaar

Go to TANGEDCO portal

Go to TANGEDCO portal and Click on “Link your Service Connect Number with Aadhaar”

Navigate to TANGEDCO Link Aadhaar page

Once you click on “Link your Service Connect Number with Aadhaar” it will navigate to the TANGEDCO Link Aadhaar page.

Service No/Consumer No will start with 01 to 09 (Region Code) numbers followed by your original Service No/Consumer No will be mentioned.

Select your Region Codes from TNEB portal

In case your Consumer Service number doesn’t start with 01 to 09 (Region Code) means select your region code from the below table based on your location.

Enter your Service & Mobile Number 

In my case I have given the region code as 04 (Namakkal) and followed by the region code entering my Consumer Service number.

Still you have confusion on Consumer Service number, click on “please click here to view these format” link you will get an idea to proceed further.

Then enter the Mobile number, Captcha code and Click on the “Enter” button.

Select  your Occupant details & Aadhaar Number 

TANGEDCO portal will fetch the related data and display the results such as Service Connection Number & Name of the Consumer. Verify those details and Select the Occupant details which are related to you.

Enter the Aadhaar number and then Select the Checkbox.

Prerequisite -> Consumer should linked their Mobile number with Aadhaar Card already

Click on “Send OTP” to generate the OTP.

Enter the OTP & Click on Submit button

Enter the OTP which you have received from Mobile number and Click on “Submit” 

Acknowledgement

Consumer will get the acknowledgement as “Aadhaar details has been successfully linked with your Service Connection Number”

The TNEB with Aadhaar Card Linking Status Online Check can be done on the website tneblt.gov.in or aadhar.tnebltd.gov.in repeat the process one more time you will get the message like your Service Connection Number is already linked with Aadhaar Card.
